Press the juice from the blackberries.
Add 2 pounds of sugar per each quart of juice and 1/2 ounce each of nutmegs and cloves; boil all together for 5 to 10 minutes
Allow to get cold; add a bit of brandy.
In a blender, mash or puree 4 cups ripe berries; cover with 1 pint of brandy and let stand for 2 to 4 weeks. Strain and bottle. Can now be served immediately.
